According to an old legend, while passing through the Black Sea with his army around 1450, Mehmed the Conqueror, the 7th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, decided to rest for a while and requested a tent be pitched. While staying there, he noticed the black turbans worn by the local people. Referring to the people wearing the hat-shaped turbans, known in Old Turkish as "Börk," he turned to his vizier and asked, "Who are these Karabörks over there?" From that day on, the region became known as "KaraBörk."

The story of our BlackBörk brand dates back to this rumor from the 1450s.
